About
A practical fix for a solvable barrier.
Our mission
Ensuring every homeless individual has a spot to sleep at night. Spotbed exists to remove one practical, solvable barrier to that: the lack of shared, real-time information about where space is available.
Why we're building this
It started with conversations.
This project began with direct research and conversations with shelters and referral organisations across London. They described a shared challenge: no live way to see availability across partner organisations.
The result is repeated phone calls, manual tracking, and delays in placing people into safe accommodation.
"We spend the first hour of every shift phoning around to find a bed."
Our structure
Locked to the mission.
Spotbed is being established as a Community Interest Company (CIC) — a form of social enterprise with a legal commitment to community benefit over private profit, ensuring the organisation's purpose stays locked to its mission.
Our approach
Built with the sector, not for it
Developed through ongoing consultation with the shelters and referral organisations who will use it.
Trust first
Spotbed only shows availability between organisations with an existing, established partnership — never a public directory.
People, not just logistics
Spotbed speeds up administrative coordination; referral and safeguarding decisions remain entirely in the hands of trained staff.
